Antelope, CA – 24 year-old Mike Gallegos of Wheat Ridge,
CO will be teaming up with Rob Dixon’s RTD Motorsports,
Inc. for the entire 2008 Camping World West Series.
Dixon,
who managed operations and was crew chief for Justin
Lofton in 2007, will be making the move towards car
ownership.
Gallegos competed for Joe Nava in the 2007 West Series and
prior to that, Gallegos was a star on the NASCAR Midwest
Tour. In 2006, he finished seventh in the series points
and finished 12th in the Toyota All-Star
Showdown.
This
will be Gallegos’ fourth year in the Drive for Diversity
program.
“I’ve known Rob for close to 10 years,” Gallegos said.
“I’m definitely pumped up. His results speak for
themselves and this should be a career boosting year for
me.”
Gallegos and Dixon met in Colorado while Gallegos was just
beginning his career in Legends cars, while Dixon worked
for Craftsman Truck driver Rick Carelli.
They
have stayed in touch throughout those 10 years, and when
this opportunity came, Dixon and Gallegos were quick to
capitalize on it.
The
relationship is rare in the Drive for Diversity program,
where top weekly team owners watch the eligible drivers
compete in a combine. Teams then select the driver they
were most impressed with and sign them to a contract.
“We’d like to win and consistently be in contention for
the championship,” Gallegos said. “Rob has great guys and
we’re going to do a little bit of testing so we’re ready
for
Roseville.”
Gallegos has six career starts at Colorado National
Speedway, and hopes to be a contender there when the
series visits on June 7th.
The

Gallegos will kick off on March 28-29 at All American
Speedway
